The Sayreville community is mourning the loss of 30-year-old Councilwoman Eunice Dwumfour, who was found with multiple gunshot wounds inside her car on Wednesday, February 1, 2023. According to authorities, the vehicle crashed into parked cars after the shooting took place. The investigation into her death is currently underway and the police are searching for the individuals responsible.
Eunice Dwumfour: A Dedicated Politician
Eunice Dwumfour was a dedicated politician and beloved member of the Sayreville community. She was elected to a three-year term on the borough council in November 2021 and also served on the Human Relations Commission. Mayor Victoria Kilpatrick expressed shock and sadness at the news of her passing, calling it a “despicable criminal act.”
Politician Darius Mayfield also paid tribute to Dwumfour, expressing concern for his own safety given the proximity of the incident. Dwumfour will be remembered by her colleagues, friends, and family for her hard work and dedication to Sayreville, a central New Jersey town with a population of 45,000 people.
